Multi-Disciplinary, Collaborative Proposals/Prospecting
Proposal services include the following:
- Identification of potential funding opportunities
US government funding; research foreign direct investment foundations; international financial institutions, international organizations, MSU funding opportunities
- Researching comparative data on who is currently working/receiving funding for similar/parallel effort
- Identification of multi-disciplinary collaborators at MSU
- Prepare materials such as agendas, contact lists, schedules and necessary matrices for collaborator meetings
- Share sample proposals, letters of interest/intent
- Evaluate proposal parameters and appropriateness for target sources of funding
- Identify potential partners (other universities, NGO’s, et.al.)
- Travel with faculty
- Assist with drafting language for Memoranda of Understanding (MOU)
- Create proposal development and narrative writing timelines to help investigators with proposal development
- Establish and maintain clear communication systems to ensure that all proposal team members receive the information they need when they need it
- Build a project budget
- Troubleshoot with team members and agency or foundation program officers during the writing process; paying particular attention to amendments or modifications to timely submission or changes to the funding announcements
- Edit and format the proposal, and review the final proposal to ensure compliance with the proposal solicitation.
- Track all proposal tasks to ensure compliance with deadlines (internal and external)
- Coordinate the budget, research compliance, and routing processes with appropriate MSU offices (Contracts and Grants Administration, IRB, etc.)

Post-AwardServices and Support
- Assist faculty with project workplanning
- Aid in reporting to funding agencies
- Support implementation as requested
- Contribute to successful reawarding of research/project funding.

Single-Investigator Proposals/Prospecting:
Proposal services include the following:
- Answer questions regarding all phases of the proposal development process, from identifying funding opportunities to submitting a final grant application to the funding agency
- Provide guidance on proposal development strategies on an as-needed basis
- Identification of potential funding opportunities (database run)
US government funding; research foreign direct investment foundations; international financial institutions, international organizations, MSU funding opportunities
- Research comparative data on who is currently working/receiving funding for similar/parallel effort
- Identify other MSU investigators with similar or complimentary research interests
- Edit proposals on an as-needed basis (as capacity allows)
- Provide budget preparation assistance (as capacity allows)
- Connect investigators to the MSU-appropriate research compliance resources and processes (e.g., Contracts and Grants, College Development Officers, IRB, etc.)
